OOo的公式编辑器是一个编写数学公式的组件，常用于为文本文档中编写数学公式，也可以用于其它类型的文件里，或者单独使用。当在Writer里面使用时，公式将作为文档的一个对象。 OpenOffice.org (OOo) has a component for mathematical equations. It is most commonly used as an equation editor for text documents, but it can also be used with other types of documents or stand-alone. When used inside Writer, the equation is treated as an object inside the text document.

[编辑] 开始使用公式编辑器
使用插入 > 对象 > 公式来插入一条公式。 To insert an equation, go to Insert > Object > Formula.
公式编辑器显示在页面的下半部分，并显示了选择浮动窗口。在文档中还出现一个灰色边框的小框，用于显示创建的公式。 The equation editor opens at the bottom of the screen, and the floating Selection window appears. You will also see a small box (with a gray border) in your document, where the formula will be displayed.
公式编辑器使用一种标记语言来表示公式。例如 %beta 用于显示希腊字母 β。这种标记语言使用类似自然语言的语法，例如 a over b表示a/b的分数。 The equation editor uses a markup language to represent formulas. For example, %beta creates the Greek character beta (β). This markup is designed to read similar to English whenever possible. For example, a over b produces a fraction: <math>\frac{a}{b}</math>
在Writer中键入fn并按 F3 功能键以建立编号的公式。 To insert a numbered formula in Writer, type fn then press the F3 key.
